The night before

Rome, 27 April 2014. It’s the night before the Canonization of Popes John XXIII and John Paul II. Presided over by two Popes, this event is historically unprecedented. Rome is host to a million people, making pilgrimage from around the world, many waving their national flags. An endless crowd of people waiting near St. Peter’s Square where tomorrow the religious ceremony will take place. The faithful pass what’s left of the night before succumbing to sleep in makeshift beds.
